Our powerhouse General Manager, Gill McLean, was acknowledged for her business acumen, by having an award named in her honour by the Australian Finance Group (AFG) in WA.
The award is open to all female brokers with AFG, who want to grow their broking business skills to the next level under a mentoring program run by Gill.
The winner also receives a $6,000 scholarship to the Evolve Diploma Course run by the Institute of Strategic Management and invitations to join Gill at the Business Women of Australia networking group, over the next 12 months.
We’d like to thank AFG for acknowledging Gill’s business skills, and especially, the coaching and mentoring she provides to so many new brokers in WA.
AFG State Manager of WA, Jeremy Wealleans and General Manager of AFG Home Loans, Chris Slater, had this to say.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this scholarship opportunity to one outstanding female broker in WA,” they said.
“Our thanks to Gill McLean and our supporters; this award and their involvement are testament to the collegiality and collaborative nature of our impressive industry.”
The winner of the award was announced last Friday at the AFG (WA) Awards, which were held at the Heath Ledger Theatre in the State Theatre Centre of WA.
The inaugural scholarship was awarded to Diana McKenzie, who was chosen from three exceptional finalists.
Gill explained why Diana was successful.
“While volume of business was important, as this shows success, the key driver for me when selecting a winner, was attitude to business and drivers for growth,” Gill said.
“I wanted to give the award to the person who would benefit most, and all three finalists were amazing women with great businesses and good volume.”
Gill said she has been in touch with all finalists, and plans to stay connected with them.
Congratulations Diana! You certainly deserve this.
On top of the award in Gill’s honour, Capita also took home Broker Group of the Year (WA). The award goes to the broking group with the highest growth over the past 12 months.
“We are very humbled to receive this award at such a young age,” said Gill, referring to the fact that at only 4 years old, Capita beat out broking firms up to five times their age.
“I’d like to thank everyone who supports us, including our amazing clients, brokers, partners and support crew.”
